Choose your quantity and accessories.
Accessories are added per board and start unselected. Nothing is charged until you confirm on the secure checkout page.
Before ordering, check your exact printer and POS on the compatibility page. You need a trusted, restricted 2.4 GHz network. Port 9100 has no authentication: anything that can reach the node can print. Cash-drawer operation requires the local API.
What's included
Exactly what arrives.
In the box
- One Seeed XIAO ESP32S3 (SKU 113991114) with its FPC antenna fitted
- Nodeware, installed and tested before shipping
- Setup card with QR link to the setup guide
Optional, one per board when selected: USB Y Cable for Proxy Node Raw, 5 V 2 A USB Power Adapter for Proxy Node Raw, Printer USB Cable (A to B, 1 m) for Proxy Node Raw, Powered 4-Port USB Hub for Proxy Node Raw.
You supply
- A supported USB receipt printer, scanner or scale
- A 5 V USB power source (the board does not power peripherals on its own)
- A USB OTG power/data Y cable and the peripheral's USB cable
- A powered USB hub if you connect more than one USB peripheral or a bus-powered one
Supply a compatible peripheral, a 5 V 2 A USB power source, a USB Y cable with a power leg and your peripheral's USB cable — plus a powered USB hub for more than one peripheral or a bus-powered one. The board ships without these unless you add them as accessories.
Setup
From the box to a printed receipt.
Start with a supported printer and the required power and cables. The setup guide covers each connection and how to verify your first print.
- Connect your hardware. The Y cable's USB-C end goes into the board, its power leg into a 5 V 2 A adapter, and your peripheral's cable into its USB-A socket. Never power the board from a printer's USB port.
- Join your network. Power on the node and follow its setup instructions to connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Verify your connection. Open the node's local page and check that your peripheral is detected.
- Connect your software. Use the local API or configure a compatible POS for raw ESC/POS printing on port 9100.
The QR code on the setup card in the box opens the setup guide, and the node's own page is the setup surface that works whether or not a printer is attached. Read the setup guide, including the no-printer case.
Specifications

- Power
- 5 V, 2 A into the Y cable's power leg. Never power the board from a printer's USB port.
- FCC
- Contains FCC ID: Z4T-XIAOESP32S3
The FCC ID belongs to the radio module on the board. Contains FCC ID: Z4T-XIAOESP32S3.
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. The RF exposure note is in the setup guide.
Check compatibility before ordering. A USB connector alone does not establish compatibility, and ESC/POS is the only print language this firmware implements. Need Ethernet, 5 GHz Wi-Fi or several USB devices at one station? That is Station Hub, on presale.
The supported integration recipe explains the required hardware, network and software connection. It also covers cash-drawer control, which requires an API integration rather than a printer-address change. Read it before ordering.
Questions
Before you order.
Is this a finished Station Hub?
No. Proxy Node Raw is an off-the-shelf Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 board with Nodeware firmware installed and print-tested; "Raw" means a bare board with no enclosure. Station Hub is our own board and enclosure, with Ethernet and 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, sold separately as a paid presale: the full price is charged when you order, it ships in the estimated window stated on its page once the presale opens, and you can cancel for a full refund at any time before it ships.
Do I need the Y cable?
The board has one USB-C port and cannot power a peripheral by itself, so a working setup needs three things besides it: a USB Y cable (USB-C into the board, a USB-A socket for the peripheral, and a power leg), a 5 V 2 A USB power adapter plugged into that power leg, and your peripheral's USB cable — a USB-A to USB-B lead for most receipt printers. Each is an optional accessory here; if you already have equivalents, order the board on its own. A powered USB hub is only needed for more than one peripheral or a bus-powered one.
What kind of network does it need?
A trusted, restricted network segment that you or your installer control — the same kind of segment point-of-sale equipment belongs on. Raw ESC/POS on port 9100 is unauthenticated and cannot be authenticated: anything that can reach the node can print and cut. The optional API key gates HTTP routes only; HTTP traffic on the LAN is not encrypted. Do not put a node on guest, public or shared Wi-Fi. Your router or network equipment must provide the isolation. See the node API auth documentation for details.
Does it need the internet to print?
Local printing uses your local network and does not require an internet connection. Over-the-air firmware updates from our service and account features require internet access.
Do I need an account or subscription?
Neither is required for local printing. You can optionally connect a node to your Proxy Nodes account.
Will it work with my printer or POS?
Check the compatibility page for tested equipment and supported connection methods. A USB connector alone does not establish compatibility. POS software must support the node's printing interface or be integrated with its API.
Can I connect more than one peripheral?
Only through a powered USB hub. A hub is required for more than one peripheral and for any bus-powered device such as a barcode scanner or a scale. The powered hub accessory is optional and has not yet been qualified on our bench. Planned combinations are a printer plus a scanner, or a printer plus a scale. Confirm your exact devices and powered hub with us before ordering for a multi-device setup.
Can I install the firmware on my own board?
Not yet: no public firmware download is published. The firmware page explains what a download will involve and why ESP32 boards are not interchangeable.
Is the firmware open source?
No. We have not announced an open-source release of the firmware. What is open is the documented wire protocol: you can read it, reimplement it and check an implementation against it. The simulator and the conformance suite are not published — they are workspace tools, free of charge but obtained by arrangement, with no public download. "Open" here means the protocol is documented, not that source is available or redistributable.
