Implemented features and work still in development. Hardware results belong to the setup that was tested; this page does not establish stock availability or qualification of a new board.

Software capabilities and recorded results.

  1. Firmware updates over the airImplemented

    POST /update takes an image on the LAN, gated by an update key — a node with no key set refuses firmware from everyone. A wrong or truncated image is refused before the boot slot is touched, and a node that took a bad-but-bootable image reverts to its factory image with one call. An image that cannot boot at all needs no call: the bootloader puts the node back on the image it was running, which was proven by pushing one that panics on purpose. All of it on real nodes over Wi-Fi.

  2. Node-side text wrappingImplemented

    The node wraps and columns receipt text itself: printWidthCols (measured default 48), per-receipt overrides, cut clearance. Tuning a node is a curl, not a reflash.

  3. Drawer kick at 0.15 sImplemented

    A historical bench measurement after a Wi-Fi power-save fix in firmware 1.0.9. This is a recorded result for that setup, not a timing guarantee for every printer and network. Drawer control uses the local API; raw print-job drawer commands are dropped.

  4. Scanner control surfaceImplemented

    GET /scans keeps a verdict per read — rejects included, with the reason. Symbology is labeled aim when the scanner transmitted it and inferred when it's a guess. Decode policy (read modes, timeouts, allow-lists, layouts) is set over PUT /config.

  5. LAN peer discoveryImplemented

    Nodes beacon over UDP and serve GET /peers to discover other nodes heard on the same local network. This does not enumerate devices on other networks or every node in your account.

  6. Accounts with claim codesImplemented

    Sign in with an emailed code, claim a node with the code we email when it ships, see your fleet and when each node was last seen. Release any time — the node keeps working either way.

  7. Checkout for Proxy Node RawImplemented

    Proxy Node Raw has a checkout with optional accessories priced per board. Current ordering status, included items and available accessories are on the product page. Checkout uses our hosted service; printing stays on your LAN.

  8. Fleet updates from the consoleImplemented

    Choose how each node updates — automatically inside a window you pick, or held on a version you name — and hand one an image immediately with Update now. Releases go out by rollout percentage, and a build can be pinned or withdrawn. A bench node pulled a release, waited out a quiet spell, rebooted onto it and reported back, with nobody in the room.

  9. Ethernet, with the radio on standbyImplemented

    Ethernet and Wi-Fi failover were exercised on an Ethernet-equipped bench setup. This is firmware work on different hardware: Proxy Node Raw has no Ethernet port, and the result does not establish that Station Hub's custom board is finished or qualified.

  10. USB scaleImplemented

    GET /scale serves weight, unit and stability from a HID Point of Sale scale, and a scale that has gone to sleep says so instead of reading a confident zero. Three absences are modelled apart from each other: asleep, absent, and refused for want of a USB channel on a full bus.

In development

What we're building now.

Features ship after hardware validation. Station Hub is the exception to the no-date roadmap: its paid presale states an estimated ship window when orders open. Local printing does not require our cloud.

  • · Power over Ethernet — the Ethernet link is proven on real hardware, but nothing here has yet been powered over the cable
  • · RS-232 serial — the endpoint table and a conformance assertion exist; no build of that variant ever has
  • · ePOS-XML emulation — incoming requests are captured for development, not printed
  • · CloudPRNT client — implemented in firmware source but not yet in a released firmware image: the node acts as a CloudPRNT printer, polling a CloudPRNT server over HTTP (our cloud by default, or one you run, such as an online-ordering system on your LAN or the internet) and printing plain text or our print-lines JSON on its USB ESC/POS printer; Star image and markup formats are not accepted, Star's MQTT method is not implemented, and it is untested against any third-party CloudPRNT server
  • · Text-to-print, in development on the CloudPRNT channel — text a phone number and the message prints on your node, from phones you link or through an optional public keyword per node; the cloud route exists in our code, the inbound number is not yet set up
  • · Station Hub — our own board and enclosure with Ethernet, 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and at least two powered USB-A ports, sold as a paid presale; its page carries the price and estimated ship window

Not planned

What we have decided not to build.

Named here so their absence above is not read as a promise.

  • · Remote configuration of a node — the cloud offers nodes firmware and recipes, and nothing writes a node's settings from outside its network
