Warranty
What we stand behind.
Review the product's stage, warranty coverage and claim process before buying. The warranty period is shown below when published.
Read this first
This is early hardware, and here is exactly what that means.
Proxy Node Raw and Station Hub are at different stages. Check the limitations for the product you are considering.
Proxy Node Raw
- It is an off-the-shelf module, not a custom board. What you receive is a Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 — a maker's development module — with Nodeware, our firmware, installed and print-tested before it ships. It is honest to picture it that way.
- There is no enclosure. "Raw" means a bare board: it arrives in an anti-static bag, not a case. The product images on this site are illustrations made from the makers' photos, and are labelled as such.
- The field history is short and we can count it. Our evidence comes from a small bench fleet, not from thousands of units across hundreds of restaurants over years. The firmware is well tested — the conformance suite and the ASan/UBSan builds are real — but tests are not the same as time in the field, and we will not pretend they are.
Station Hub
- It is a custom board, sold on presale. Station Hub is our own board and enclosure. When you order, it has not been built and has not been FCC-authorized; units ship from a first low-volume run once both are done. The picture of it on this site is a concept render, labelled as one. What is committed and what may still change is in the presale terms.
- It will have no field history when it reaches you. A first run is a first run. The warranty starts at delivery, not at order, so the months spent waiting for it do not use any of it up.
- Some things listed on this site are still in development. Where a page says a capability is in development, it means exactly that. The compatibility page separates what we have run on our bench from what is emulated but never confirmed against a real point-of-sale system.
- The thing that does not depend on any of the above: the print path is local. A node that works on your counter keeps working whatever happens to us, our servers, or our roadmap. That is written into the terms of sale as an undertaking, not a slogan.
If any of that is more risk than the job can carry, buy one and try it before you buy several — or request evaluation access to the simulator to test the core print protocols before buying hardware.
The warranty
Term, and what it covers.
Term
12 months from delivery
The same term for Proxy Node Raw and Station Hub.
Covered: the node failing through a defect in the hardware or in the firmware it shipped with — it will not boot, it will not bind a printer that meets the compatibility page, USB or Wi-Fi stops working, or it fails a factory reset. Our remedy is a repair, a replacement, or a refund, at our option.
Not covered: physical damage, liquid, a supply that fried it, opening or modifying the hardware, and consequential loss of any kind (see the limitation of liability).
Third-party hardware is not ours
Your receipt printer, your cash drawer, your barcode scanner, your USB hub and your cables are covered by whoever made them. We did not manufacture them and we do not warrant them — the whole point of the product is that you choose them yourself and can replace them without asking us. An accessory that arrived faulty or wrong on one of our orders is a returns matter: tell us and we will sort it.
Two consequences worth stating. A printer that speaks a language the firmware does not implement is not a fault in the node — it is a mismatch, and the compatibility page exists so you can check before buying. And a peripheral that breaks does not extend or engage this warranty, even though the symptom shows up through the node.
Firmware updates are provided as a service and may change or stop; they are not part of this warranty. A node that never updates again keeps the firmware it shipped with, which is yours.
Regulatory. Proxy Node Raw contains FCC ID: Z4T-XIAOESP32S3. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void your authority to operate the equipment. The FCC statements that go with it are in the setup guide.
Claiming
How a claim works.
- Contact us through hello@proxynodes.com with the order number, the node ID, the firmware version it is running, and a paste of
GET /statusif the node still answers. If it does not answer at all, say so — that is itself the most useful diagnostic there is. - We try to fix it where it stands. A surprising share of "dead node" reports are a USB supply or a cable, and a node you keep beats a node you post.
- If it is the node, we issue an RMA number and the same return process as a return applies. We pay the postage on a warranty claim.
This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer, which nothing here reduces.
